This is Gilles Dubochet’s private site. It serves no other purpose than to acknowledge my existence.
I live in Lausanne, Switzerland, before that in Brussels, Belgium which is still very much in my heart.
I’m into contemporary theatre and dance—shoutout to Vidy-Lausanne. I act and do improv dance, for the pure, embodied joy it gives me. I’ve been trying to write fiction, to rekindle my imagination—still finding my way there.
I’m an urban dweller, lover of crowds and people (not cars). But sometimes, I need my safe place in the Alps to balance it out:

Professional Activities
I come from computer science and engineering, with a PhD in programming languages—proudly during the early days of Scala.
Today, I’m a policy and ideas person with a focus on the academic system/institutions, open research culture, digital transformation, technology and knowledge exchange, and collaboration.
Open Science
I’m the Head of Open Science and adviser to the president and provost of EPFL. I’m a member of the main policy bodies of Open Science in Switzerland, and involved in several European networks.

Collaboration and Community
I founded Ideas Belong, an ideas platform about collaboration practices and community building.
I’m on LinkedIn if you need to know more about my professional activities.
